Senior Megan Sharpe and freshman Abby Heise tallied double-figure kills, and the Truman volleyball team hit .225 in a 3-0 sweep of Fort Hays State on Saturday afternoon.
Following a quick turnaround following Friday night’s emotional match, the Bulldogs (18-4, 7-2 MIAA) made quick work of the Tigers (18-8, 4-5 MIAA), who hit just .062 on the night.
Sharpe all players with a dozen kills, hit .476, and added a pair of solo blocks, while Heise hit .346 with 11 kills, three aces and three blocks.
After hitting just .140 in a 25-20 opening set win, the Bulldogs cruised to a 25-13 second set with prior to closing out the match with a 25-18 win.
Hays hit better than .100 in just one set, as the Bulldog defense forced 20 attack errors and received double-figure digs from sophomores Abby Moser (14) and Allie Brak (12). Brak added seven kills offensively, with sophomore Meghan Zimmerman setting 29 assists and dealing a pair of aces.
Truman sided-out at a 65% clip, halting any long runs by the Tigers, while the Bulldogs capitalized on FHSU’s 44% side-out margin.
The Bulldogs will go in search of their 10th straight win on Tuesday night, stepping out of conference play for a match at future GLVC-foe Missouri S&T at 7:00 pm.
