Four women’s tennis players placed at the 2012 Truman Women’s Tennis Invitational over the weekend held at the Truman Tennis Courts.

Hannah Runez was a perfect 4-0 in matches played to take first in Flight 7/8.

Runez won her first match 8-6 then posted three straight 8-1 set winners to take top honors.

Holly Cantalupo was second in the flight with a 3-1 record while third place was shared by Megan Mange and Jenna Heil.

Kelsey Porter was second in Flight 5/6 with a 3-1 record.

Porter was defeated in her final match in the draw by Northwest Missouri’s Emily Hoffman 8-0.

It was a tough weekend for the top players on the team as Kati Austin notched the one singles win of the top four.

Lauren Higgins missed placing in the Flight 5/6 with her 2-2 record.

The Bulldogs will take to Springfield, Mo. next weekend for the Fall Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional event.

The three-day tournament pits the best players in singles and doubles from the region in a 64-person draw and 32-team bracket.
