(AP) -- Three NFL coaches are honoring the late Mike Heimerdinger by helping his foundation raise cancer awareness and promote healthier lifestyles.

Washington's Mike Shanahan, Houston's Gary Kubiak and St. Louis' Jeff Fisher will take part in the Drive for Dinger, a two-day fundraiser on June 28.

Heimerdinger was a longtime NFL assistant coach and coordinator, most recently with the Tennessee Titans.

The Heimerdinger Foundation aims to help cancer patients by providing support and healthy meals.

The fundraiser to assist Meals 2 Heal starts with a dinner and silent auction followed by golf in Franklin, Tenn.

Heimerdinger was diagnosed with cancer in November 2010. He continued to coach the Titans the rest of the season and died 10 months later.
