Truman softball head coach Erin Brown has announced the signing of Indian Hills Community College pitcher Hannah Washburn to a letter of intent for the 2013 season.
Washburn marks the fifth member of next year’s recruiting class, joining four high school seniors who signed in the fall.
Washburn, a 5-foot-6 sophomore pitcher from Keokuk, Iowa, has thrown nearly 250 innings throughout her first two seasons at IHCC, recording a 24-14 record with a 2.83 ERA.
She has struck out nearly a batter per inning for her career, posting a 2.3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Prior to her time at Indian Hills, she was named first-team all-state at Keokuk High School.
“Hannah has consistently been one of the toughest pitchers we face during the fall season, because she has the ability to strike batters out with good speed and movement,” Brown said. “I’m confident she will contribute next year and join a full pitching staff with Kelsea [Dorsey] and Kirsten [Krause] returning along with our newcomers. We will be in a position to compete each game and keep our pitchers rested throughout the season.”
Washburn, who plans to obtain a degree in Education at Truman, joins local pitchers Macy Rogers (Kirksville) and Kindra Henze (Palmyra), along with infielders Nikki Moss (Kansas City) and Whitney Richardson (Troy, Mo.) as part of the 2013 incoming class.
