Eight members of the Truman Wrestling team earned All-Academic by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association and the team was second in Division II with a 3.30 grade-point average.
Alex Maus was a second team selection while Will Evans, Warren Galloway, Joel Geders, Zach Hayes, Jordan Powell, Thomas Redmon and Helmut Renschler were honorable mention choices.
The 2011-12 Division II All-Academic team consisted of 164 student-athletes from 40 universities and college.
To be eligible, the student-athlete must have a minimum 3.00 grade-point average, be in his second full year in school and be a starter or key reserve on the team.
In the team competition, Truman finished second for the second straight year and has been first or second in the ranking for the past seven years.
The Bulldogs 3.308 GPA was second to the University of Mary’s 3.334.
The team GPA is calculated by averaging the cumulative grade point averages of ten wrestlers from each team of which eight of those wrestlers must have competed in their team’s NCAA national qualifying tournament.
