With three of their final four regular season games at home, the Truman women’s basketball team will look to secure their postseason tournament bid and lock up some favorable position as they begin the home stand with Northwest Missouri on Wednesday night.

Truman (13-9; 7-9 MIAA) needs just one win to clinch their first winning season under coach Michael Smith and only third above .500 campaign in 11 years.

They have already surpassed last season’s win total and Saturday night Truman completed their first unblemished non-conference record of 6-0 in the program’s history by defeating McKendree (Ill.) University 77-55.

Junior guard Becka McHenry has averaged 17.4 points per game in her last five and has scored 20-points or more in each of her last three games entering Wednesday night. In those last three, McHenry is shooting 58% from the floor, averaging over six rebounds and dishing out over four assists.

Northwest Missouri (5-19; 3-13 MIAA) are fighting for their postseason tournament lives after winning both the regular season and tournament titles a year ago.

The Bearcats are a game back of eighth place in the standings after a key 72-71 victory over Missouri Western in overtime on Saturday.

A win by the Bulldogs would lock up a tournament berth and Truman could finish no worse than seventh if Missouri Western falls on the road at Lincoln on Wednesday night.
