Arguably the toughest stretch of the Truman women’s basketball schedule will tip off on Wednesday night as the Bulldogs will face the first of three straight nationally ranked opponents as they travel to Pittsburg State University for a 5:30 start time.

The Bulldogs fell by just a point when the two teams last met in Kirksville on Dec. 3rd, 79-78.

The Bulldogs (10-6; 5-6 MIAA) bucked their recent trends in a dominating 72-53 victory to gain the season sweep over Missouri Southern on Saturday.

A 14-0 run in the second half allowed the Bulldogs to deliver the knockout punch to the reeling Lions while Truman also got to the line 14 times each half, making 71% of their free throws.

Pittsburg is the second most prolific scoring offense in the MIAA at 74.8 points per game and also leads the conference in blocked shots at 5.9 per contest. Larissa Richards is second in the conference with 8.8 rebounds per game and first in field goal percentage at 60% while averaging 13 points a night.

The Bulldogs are third in scoring defense allowing 58.8 points per game, including the last five under 65 points a game. Truman has the top free throw shooting team in the conference at 75% and is also first in turnover margin at plus +3.3.
In the first meeting,

Pitt led by as many as 18 points but watched Truman storm back to take a one-point lead on a three-pointer by Allie Norton and a basket by Becka McHenry with 1:42 remaining.

Following a pair of free throws by Lizzy Jeronimus, Nicole Gloor put Truman back up by one with 49 seconds left, however,

Courtney Tate’s jumper with 23 ticks showing was the game-winner in the battle of unbeaten teams. Jeronimus finished with 24 while Gloor led Truman with 22 and McHenry followed with 20.
