PEKIN, IOWA -- The Pekin girls cross country team won another state title on Saturday.
The Panthers finished in first place at Fort Dodge with 75 points. The team was led by third place finisher Celsey Conger who had a time of 14:42. Her sister Brenna Conger was 14th at 15:20. Its the 3rd title for Pekin in 4 years.
Coach Davis Eidahl said the team faced a lot of pressure but knew how to handle it.
"They would have been disappointed if they got 2nd place. They're a very close knit group. The knew what they had to do. Their routine was the same as its always been. They worked hard on the course."
The future continues to look bright for Pekin. The team will reload with incoming freshmen who also won the state title in middle school this year.
