(AP) -- The Big 12 appears to be resigned to the departure of the University of Missouri.
The league put out a news release Friday announcing unanimous approval to accept West Virginia, effective July 1.
The Mountaineers become the second program to join the Big 12 this month, following TCU.
The news release says that starting with the 2012-13 season, the Big 12 is expected to be comprised of 10 universities - and Missouri is not part of that list.
Missouri is weighing a move to the SEC, but has said no final decision has been made.
A spokeswoman for the university did not immediately return a message seeking comment. Big 12 officials also did not immediately respond to interview requests.
