The Truman volleyball team was ranked seventh in the first official NCAA South Central regional poll of the 2011 season, joining three other MIAA teams in the top-10.
The Bulldogs (16-10, 5-5 MIAA) landed in between two Arkansas programs, UA-Fort Smith at No. 6 and Arkansas Tech at No. 8, while MIAA programs Washburn and Central Missouri held the top two spots.
Lone Star Conference rivals Angelo (Texas) State and West Texas A&M were ranked third and fourth, respectively, while St. Edward’s (Texas) was placed fifth.
Abilene Christian (Texas) and Emporia State were ranked ninth and 10th, with last night’s results not included in this week’s poll.
The Bulldogs have played all but two of the other teams in the top-ten, having picked up wins against both ACU and ESU this season.
Truman will meet top-ranked Washburn for the second time this year on Friday night in Pershing Arena at 7:00 pm before traveling to Warrensburg for a rematch with second-ranked UCM next Wednesday evening.
The top eight teams are granted berths into the NCAA tournament, with the top seed hosting regional action from Nov. 17-19.
