The Truman women’s soccer team jumped two spots to No. 7 in this week’s NCAA South Central regional poll, announced Wednesday by the NCAA.
With one week of regular season play to go and the MIAA postseason tournament looming next weekend, the Bulldogs (10-4-2, 7-0 MIAA) have parlayed a seven-match winning streak to sit just one spot outside the top-6 that qualify for the NCAA Div. II tournament from the South Central region.
Four teams ahead of the Bulldogs have been opponents on the schedule this season, including No. 1 Abilene Christian (Texas), No. 2 Central Oklahoma, No. 3 Central Missouri and No. 5 Midwestern (Texas) State. St. Edward’s (Texas) holds the No. 4 slot, while Dallas Baptist currently sits sixth.
The Bulldogs will have a chance to knock off one of the squads ahead of them this Saturday, as 3rd-ranked UCM visits Kirksville for a 1:00 pm match.
Both teams enter the weekend undefeated in MIAA play, with Saturday’s winner earning the No. 1 seed in next weekend’s MIAA tournament.
That event will be held at UMKC from Nov. 3-6.
