Truman State University Bulldogs football fans will have the opportunity on September 10 to participate in a one game pilot of regulated on-campus tailgating prior to the Bulldog Football home game against Fort Hays State University.

"This exception to the University's dry campus policy is in response to numerous requests from Truman alumni and parent groups who are hoping to create an experience at Truman games like other campuses around the state and within the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association," said Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering.

The designated lot, located on the west side of Franklin Street and accessed only off of Patterson, will open three hours prior to kickoff.

All alcoholic beverages (beer and wine only) must remain in the lot and in plastic cups that will be provided upon entrance.

Individuals may not take alcoholic beverages outside the designated area and minors will not be allowed to possess alcoholic beverages at any time.

Fans will be asked to take up no more than one parking spot and to not block the traffic lanes in the lot.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages must cease at kickoff and fans should clean their area prior to departing for the stadium.

In addition, the sale of alcoholic beverages and activities that promote excessive drinking will be strictly prohibited.

This will be the only game this season that alcoholic beverages will be allowed on campus.

The University will monitor the responsible tailgating allowed on September 10 and will review the effectiveness of the event prior to the 2012 football season.
