The St. Louis Cardinals Sign Arthur Rhodes

(AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals have made a couple of roster moves to create space on the roster for left-handed reliever Arthur Rhodes.

Rhodes joined the Cardinals on Friday for the start of a three-game series against Colorado. He was released by Texas earlier this week.

Rookie catcher Tony Cruz was optioned to Triple-A Memphis and left-hander Raul Valdes was designated for assignment to make room for Rhodes on the 40-man roster.
