(AP) -- The Big Ten Network will give each of the conference's member schools a record $22.6 million this year.
The increase is due in part to increased revenue from the Big Ten Network.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the conference's TV network paid schools like the University of Illinois $7.9 million each.
According to information from Illinois, that's up 21 percent from last year's $6.5 million.
The Big Ten distributes money its members equally based on a revenue sharing system.
Other major conferences pay out different amounts to their members but those averages are all below the dollar figures Big Ten schools receive.
The Southeastern Conference, for example, gave its members an average of $18.3 million for 2010-11.
