(AP) -- George Brett predicts the 3,000th hit of Derek Jeter's career will be harder to get than the first.
Brett said on a conference call Thursday it would probably take a couple of at-bats for Jeter's nerves to calm enough for him to get a hit in that night's game.
The shortstop comes in three hits from the milestone.
The Hall of Fame third baseman knows what Jeter is going through.
Brett is one of the 27 members of the 3,000 Hit Club the New York Yankees' captain is seeking to join.
Brett says the second hit will be easier than the first, but the third will be by far the most difficult.
Like Jeter, Brett got all his hits with one team - with the Kansas City Royals from 1973-93.
