Two more players have been added to the roster for the Indian Hills Community College basketball team.
Coach Barret Peery has announced that Kieran Woods and DeAndray Buckley have signed to play for the Warriors.
Woods, a 6-3, 185-pound guard, played at Crane Tech in Chicago and is the fourth Chicago-area product on the IHCC roster.
“Kieran is a big-time recruit,” said Peery, “and we had to beat out some top juco programs nationally to get him. He has good size for a point guard and is a fantastic passer.”
Peery also described Woods as a very good athlete and said he played for a winning high school program in Chicago.
Buckley, 6-4 and 200 pounds, will transfer to Indian Hills after playing last season at the University of New Hampshire.
He played high school basketball at Romulus High School in Detroit and his coach there, Nate Oates, is a friend of Peery’s.
“I like DeAndray’s size and strength and the fact he played at a Division I school last year,” Peery said. “He is a very good wing player and will give us some toughness.”
Buckley played in 29 games at New Hampshire, starting four times.
His high school team had a school-record 79 wins during his career and played in two state semifinals.
IHCC assistant coach Charlie Henry coached Buckley for one year in high school in Detroit.
Buckley’s brother, Dominique, played two seasons at Iowa State before transferring to Toledo.
