(AP) -- David Toms shot a bogey-free 8-under 62 to share the first-round lead at the Colonial, quickly rebounding four days after losing a playoff at The Players Championship.
Toms, a 12-time PGA Tour winner who hasn't won in five years, matched Chez Reavie for the lead Thursday.
It is Toms' lowest score since his career-best 61 at the Sony Open in Hawaii in January 2006, the last tournament he won.
After forcing a playoff with K.J. Choi last weekend at The Players Championship with a rare birdie at the 18th hole,
Toms missed a short par putt at the famed No. 17 island hole that would have extended play.
Rickie Fowler shot a 63. He missed a chance to tie the Colonial record when he made a double bogey on his final hole.
