The Truman Bulldog Baseball team will look to add to their 2011 resume when they wrap up the regular season at #5 University of Central Missouri this weekend.

The Bulldogs are still mathematically alive for the conference tournament entering the final weekend against the Mules.

First pitch is scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Truman (17-27; 16-24 MIAA) would need a sweep over the Mules plus some help to earn that final postseason tournament spot.

The Bulldogs are three games back of Washburn but would also have to jump Northwest Missouri and Missouri Southern in the standings.

The Ichabods would need just one win in their series with Pittsburg State to eliminate the Bulldogs while Southern travels to Fort Hays State and Northwest hosts Emporia State.

The Bulldogs enter the final weekend on the verge of bettering or setting nearly 20 different statistical marks this season, including most overall wins since 1999 and most ever conference wins.

Truman’s pitching staff has been the source of the turnaround as they have posted one of the lowest team ERA’s in nearly 20 years with a 4.88 entering the final four games.

Central (38-7; 33-7) is tied with Emporia State for the league lead and top spot in the upcoming conference tournament.

The Mules are also second in the latest NCAA South Central regional poll trailing only St. Mary’s (Texas) while the Hornets are third.

The Mules have won eight straight games and are led by one of the nation’s top hitters in Nick DeBiasse (.478). Central hits .334 as a team with 38 home runs and 82 stolen bases.
