ST. LOUIS -- The La Plata baseball game against O’Fallon, Illinois that was to be played at Busch Stadium was cancelled tonight due to inclement weather.

The St. Louis Cardinals Cincinnati Reds game was in a 39-minute rain delay after the seventh inning of play.  After that officials decided to cancel the high school game.

Head coach Steve Carvajal was disappointed but he was able to find a silver lining.

“We got to see a baseball game,” said Carvajal.  “(The team was) ready to play but we'll make it up.”

One of the highlights for the team was watching Albert Pujols hit his seventh homer of the season.

“Everybody had a great time.  I mean the kids, the parents the community all had a good time.  It's a good game.  You can't control the weather.  I'm disappointed obviously because we're here we like to play.  It’s a long drive for us."

There’s still no word on when or if the Bulldogs will be able to reschedule the game.  With track and field events, prom and graduation in the future it will make picking another date difficult.
