The Truman baseball team will look to ride the momentum of their first series victory of the season as they head to Bolivar, Mo. on Friday and Saturday with a four-game set with the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats.
The Bulldogs took three of four from the Northwest Missouri Bearcats this past weekend and have won five of their last eight.
The four-game series is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday with a seven-inning game to be followed by a nine-inning game.
The teams will play the same format on Saturday starting an hour earlier at noon. In the event the first game of the day goes into extra innings, the second game will be shifted to a seven-inning game.
The Bulldogs are hitting .233 with 29 extra base hits. The team has 23 doubles, three triples and three home runs to go with 31 stolen bases.
Junior Devon Myers leads the team with a .348 batting average and is one of two Bulldogs to play and start in all 20 games (Steven Rose). Myers and junior Dan Plecki lead the team with 10 runs batted in.
The pitching staff has a 4.42 earned run average through 20 games. Opponents are hitting .273 with 46 extra base hits (32 doubles, five triples and nine home runs.).
Truman is fourth in the MIAA in ERA with their 4.42, while the starters have a 3.59 ERA.
The hurlers have over a two-to-one strikeout to walk ratio as the Bulldogs have fanned 127 opposing hitters while issuing just 48 walks. On average, the staff is averaging 6.3 Ks per game.
The Bulldog pitchers have a 1.33 WHIP while the Bulldog hitters have a 1.18 WHIP.
Junior Ryan Trimble leads the team with a 2.18 earned run average in 33 innings pitched.
The four starters (Trimble, Jarrett Eiskina, Tyler Stefan and Kyle Veazey) have 3.59 ERA and have chewed up 128 of the 161 innings pitched this season.
