Led by senior Chris Kovach’s fifth top-20 finish of the 2010-2011 season, the Truman men’s golf team posted a 13th place finish at the 61st annual Southern California Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, having played 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.

Kovach (80-79-76) finished 19th in the two-day event, which included Div. II programs throughout the nation – including three others from the MIAA.

Truman as a team improved each day in the first rounds of the spring season, shooting rounds of 352 and 340 on day one before closing the event with a 329 on Tuesday’s third round.

Andy Herington turned in a third-round 83 to finish 63rd as an individual in the event, while Nik Bentzinger (71st), Jake Hanrahan (71st) and Alex Key (78th) rounded out the five-man unit.

The Bulldogs return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Western Illinois University Invitational, competing against a predominantly Div. I field in Macomb, Ill.
