Northern Iowa to host CIT game

(AP) --  Northern Iowa will host a first-round
game in the CollegeInsider.com tournament next week.

 Panthers coach Ben Jacobson announced Monday that the Panthers
will play in the postseason tourney on March 15 against an
undetermined opponent.


Northern Iowa (19-13) saw its hopes for the NCAA and NIT
tournaments fade after it lost seven of its final eight games.


The tournament, known as the CIT, will feature 24 teams this
season. All participants play a first-round game, and four of those
winners are given byes into the quarterfinals.

The remaining eight teams then play for a spot in the
quarterfinals.
