DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Carl Richard had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Indiana State to a 62-57 victory over Drake on Sunday.

The Sycamores (9-7, 4-1 Missouri Valley) never trailed, but it was 24-all at halftime and Indiana State held a slim lead through the last 5 minutes.

Drake's Rayvonte Rice missed a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left that would have tied it, and Steve McWhorter made two free throws with 8 seconds left for the final points for the Sycamores.

Aaron Carter scored 11 points and Isiah Martin had 10 for Indiana State. Ryan Wedel had 17 points to lead Drake (7-9, 2-3) and Rice added 12 points for the Bulldogs.
