KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) -- Linebacker Derrick Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs has been named AFC defensive player of the week.
In a 27-13 victory over St. Louis that enabled the Chiefs to hold onto the lead in the AFC West, Johnson had a career-high 17 tackles and four passes defended. The Chiefs defense allowed a season-low 224 yards of total defense.
Earlier this year, linebacker Tamba Hali was also named AFC defensive player of the week. It's the first time since 1991 that two Kansas City linebackers have taken the award in the same season.
