Botts scores 20 points in IPFW's OT win over UMKC

(AP) -- Ben Botts scored 20 points, including seven in overtime, to lead IPFW to a 76-72 win over UMKC on Thursday night.

Down by as many as 10 points early in the second half, the Mastodons (4-2, 1-0 Summit) stormed back on 57.9 percent shooting in the period to tie it twice in the final 1:20 of regulation play.

IPFW's Trey McCorkle, who finished with 11 points, hit a layup with 37 seconds left in the period to send the game to overtime.

The Mastodons took the lead for good about a minute and a half into OT on a layup by Jeremy Mixon, who also finished with 11 points.

Spencer Johnson led the Kangaroos (4-2, 0-1) with 19 points while Jay Couisnard and Trinity Hall each added 13.

Frank Gaines helped out the Mastodons with 12 points. John Peckinpaugh added 10.
