(AP) -- St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia has been selected to the Topps major league rookie all-star team.
The 24-year-old Garcia was 13-8 with a 2.70 ERA in 163 1/3 innings, even though he was shut down for the year in mid-September as a precaution after the Cardinals fell out of contention in the NL Central. Garcia made 28 starts in his first full season since undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery in 2008.
Garcia finished third in NL Rookie of the Year balloting earlier this month. He was named the top rookie left-hander.
