Ryan Banning, Andy Bader and Chad Kurvoski all won their respective weight class championships as seven Bulldog wrestlers placed in the season opening Knox Inviational over the weekend.
Banning took the 125-title with a 5-2 decision in the championship match while Bader )won the 165 bracket with a pin fall victory at the 1:44 mark. Kurvoski claimed the 174-pound bracket with an 11-7 victory.
Colton Schmitz (won a third place match in the 149-pound bracket by a 7-0 decision.
Ryan Maus lost his third place match 3-1 to finish fourth overall in the 141-pound weight class.
Two more newcomers brought home fifth place medals with Nick Shea) winning 6-2 in his bout at 133 and Devon Fenstermaker (Barnhart, Mo., Seckman)taking a 10-0 decision in the 157-pound weight class.
The Bulldogs placed fourth as a team in the 14-team tournament and had the most first place finishers than any other school.
Truman will next be in action at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Invitational on Saturday
