Northern Iowa gets past Indiana State 30-20

TERRE HAUTE, IND. (AP) -- Tirrell Rennie rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns to lead Northern Iowa past Indiana State 30-20 on Saturday.

Carlos Anderson added 139 rushing yards and Billy Hallgren kicked three field goals as the Panthers (6-3, 5-1) kept their hold
on first place in the Missouri Valley Conference with a fourth straight win.

Darrius Gates ran for two scores and Ronnie Fouch threw for 200 yards and a TD for the Sycamores (5-4, 3-3).

After a back-and-forth first half, Matt Strathman's 3-yard TD run put Northern Iowa ahead 23-13 with 9:32 left in the third quarter. Indiana State pulled to within three on Fouch's 25-yard pass to Justin Hilton with 5:02 to play in the third before the Panthers put the game away on Rennie's 5-yard TD run with 1:39 left in the game.
