The Truman volleyball team was ranked second in the first official set of NCAA South Central regional rankings, as announced late Wednesday evening by the NCAA office.
The Bulldogs were one of six MIAA teams in the top seven, with Central Missouri, Truman, Washburn and Emporia State earning the top four spots. Abilene Christian (Texas) was ranked fifth, followed by Northwest Missouri State, Nebraska-Omaha, Angelo State, West Texas A&M and Central Oklahoma.
The top eight teams in the regional rankings at the end of the regular season will be selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Div. II tournament, which begins on Thursday, Nov. 18
Weekly rankings will be released each Wednesday leading up to the bracket announcement on Sunday, Nov. 14.
Truman has made 11 total postseason appearances, including each of the past ten years.
This set of rankings did not include the Bulldogs’ 3-0 victory against Emporia State, which took place last evening in Kirksville.
The Bulldogs are ranked No. 11 in the AVCA top-25 coaches’ poll and travel to No. 2 Washburn on Friday (Oct. 22) night.
