(AP) -- The Hy-Vee Triathlon will feature two
events next season thanks to a new agreement with the World
Triathlon Corporation.
Hy-Vee says the annual triathlon and Elite Cup races will serve
as the U.S. championships for the WTC.
Hy-Vee president Randy Edeker says the partnership with the WTC
will elevate the Iowa-based event to a position of national
prominence.
The triathlon will also return to downtown Des Moines, site of
the inaugural triathlon in 2007.
Organizers moved the event to West Des Moines in 2008 because of
flooding.
Edeker says the shift came at the request of WTC, which is
seeking more urban settings for its international-distance races.
