EDMOND, OKLA. -- Junior Megan Buri broke a 1-1 tie with a game-winning goal in the 88th minute of Sunday’s women’s soccer match, as the 24th-ranked Truman Bulldogs knocked off Central Oklahoma on its home pitch, 2-1, in the finale of the UCO Invitational.

After UCO (1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute off a rebound, the Bulldogs tied it up in the 67th minute when senior Beth Bystrom scored her second goal in as many days to equalize the score at one each. Bystrom’s goal was fed through on a pass from sophomore Olivia Hayes.

Then, with time winding down, Buri took a Bystrom pass and found the back of the net, guiding Truman to its first win of 2010 and finishing the weekend with a 1-1 record.

The Bulldogs outshot UCO, 14-11, in the match and held a 7-4 advantage on shots on goal.

Truman will open up conference play this coming Thursday when the purple and white host Northwest Missouri at the Truman Soccer Park at 4 pm.
