(AP) -- The St. Louis Blues have fired Rick Wamsley as
head coach of the Peoria Rivermen, their top minor league
affiliate.
Wamsley was named interim head coach at Peoria on Jan. 2 after
Davis Payne was promoted to interim head coach of the Blues,
replacing the fired Andy Murray.
Wamsley is a former NHL goaltender. He joined the Blues in July
2006 as an assistant coach and goaltenders coach.
The team said in a release that a replacement for
Wamsley has not been named.
The Blues removed the interim tag from Payne's title last month.
At 39, he's the youngest coach in the NHL and produced a 23-15-4
record.
