(AP) -- Greg McDermott says everything is in place
for Creighton to play for a Missouri Valley Conference championship
right away, get back to the NCAA tournament and become a mid-major
power.
McDermott was introduced Tuesday as the Bluejays' new head
coach. He replaces longtime coach Dana Altman, who took over at
Oregon on Monday.
McDermott, who coached at Iowa State the past four seasons, said
Creighton is a "retooling job, not a rebuilding job."
He said he aspires to duplicate the success of mid-major Butler,
which lost to Duke in the NCAA tournament championship game earlier
this month.
