ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Rams addressed perhaps their greatest pre-draft need on the third day of the draft, taking Cincinnati wide receiver Mardy Gilyard with the first pick of the fourth round.
Gilyard had 87 catches for 1,191 yards and 11 touchdowns last year and helped the Bearcats win consecutive Big East titles his final two seasons. The Rams have an undistinguished cast of pass catchers led by Donnie Avery.
The Rams have gone for offense with three of their top four picks, including quarterback Sam Bradford with the first overall
selection and Indiana offensive tackle Rodger Saffold in the second. They took South Florida cornerback Jerome Murphy in the
third.
Other selections by the Rams on the final day include:
Rd 5 Michael Hoomanawanui TE Illinois
Rd 5 Hall Davis DE Louisiana-Lafayette
Rd 6 Fendi Onobun TE Arizona
Rd 6 Eugene Sims DE West Texas A&M
Rd 7 Marquis Johnson DB Alabama
Rd 7 George Selvie DE South Florida
Rd 7 Josh Hull LB Penn State
