Senior Lauren Graybeal had a team-high 14 kills, but the No. 19 Truman Bulldog volleyball squad committed 38 attack errors in a four-set, 3-1 (24-26, -21, -20, -17) loss at Northwest Missouri on Friday night.
After taking the first set by two points, the Bulldogs (23-12, 11-8 MIAA) dropped the next three frames to Northwest (14-21, 5-14 MIAA). Graybeal was the only Truman attacker to hit better than .200 with only Molly Sinclair and Emily Briseno hitting better than .000.
Junior Ashley Petak had a team-high 25 assists, with her 17 digs finishing second to junior Casey Bruno’s team-high 20. The Bulldogs had more kills, assists and digs than Northwest but hit 100 points lower and were out-blocked 12-5.
Truman, who sat sixth in the region entering the final weekend, now has a key match at Missouri Western on Saturday afternoon to try and finish 12-8 in MIAA play. First serve from St. Joseph is set for 2:00 pm.
