Kirksville Tiger wrestlers win gold

COLUMBIA, MO. -- The Kirksville Wrestling Team won the Class 2 State Championship Saturday in Columbia. The Tigers led from the opening day.

Kirksville sent three athletes to the final matches. Justin VanHoose won by a fall and Colton Schmitz won 7 to 6. Austin Roper lost a tough 7 to 6 decision.

Earlier in the day Jacob VanHoose and Travis Lang finished 3rd at 145 and 152 pounds.

Zach Western took home a 5th place medal at 119. Jeremiah Smith finished 6th.

Kirksville wins the state championship and Justin VanHoose and Colton Schmitz would take home individual crowns. The Tigers only graduate three seniors.
