(AP) -- Iowa athletic director Gary Barta says he and coach Kirk Ferentz have discussed a contract extension.
Ferentz, who makes $2.84 million per year, was given a one-year extension last February that will keep him at Iowa through 2013.
Barta told the Des Moines Register Thursday that he and Ferentz have talked in general terms, but nothing has been finalized.
Barta also says no one has requested permission to speak with Ferentz about possible job openings.
Iowa finished 9-4 in 2008 and was ranked 20th in the final Associated Press poll.
