(AP) --  No. 1-ranked Davenport Assumption has cruised to its third straight Iowa Class 3A girls basketball championship.

Assumption got 16 points from Hailey Schneden in its 62-40 victory over third-ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central on Friday night.

Assumption (25-2) led from the opening tip and was never challenged in becoming the fifth school to win three consecutive titles.

Along the way, the Knights set a state tournament record by making 23 3-pointers in their three games, topping the old mark of 21 by Battle Creek-Ida Grove in 2007.

All-tournament captain Danielle Moore added 13 points and six assists for the Knights, while Maddie Irmen had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Emily Kirchner led Estherville-Lincoln Central (23-4) with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Allie Sievert added nine points and nine rebounds.
