The Truman Baseball team was picked 14th in the MIAA Baseball Preseason Coaches’ Poll released by the league office today.

The Bulldogs will open up the 2013 season with a three-game conference series at Washburn (Kan.) University beginning on February 16 in Topeka.

Truman was 16-32 and 13-25 in the MIAA last season and returns the squad’s top two offensive players last season in Jarod Hahn and Will Nader along with top pitchers Jarrett Eskina, Logan Siegler and Tim Lee.

Hahn hit .329 while playing and starting in all 48 games as a freshman last season while Nader hit .323 in 36 games.

Siegler struck out a team high 39 hitters while walking just 12 in 68 innings while Eiskina posted a 2.16 ERA in nine appearances and Lee led the staff with four wins.

The 50-game schedule will feature just four non-conference games with the addition of conference newcomers Central Oklahoma, Northeastern (Okla.) State, Lindenwood and the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

The Bulldogs will open the home season by welcoming Northeastern State for a three-game series on February 23-24 in Kirksville.

Defending league champion Central Missouri was picked to repeat this season with 14 first place votes while Missouri Western was tabbed second in the 15-team league.
