Olivia Hayes’ first-team honor highlighted four Truman women’s soccer players named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) all-region Central team on Tuesday afternoon. Kelsey Twellman, Trisha Shoemaker and Kelsey Ridgway all picked up second-team honors.

Hayes ( who capped her career with her fourth all-region selection in as many seasons, was one of seven MIAA players to earn first-team accolades after already being named first-team all-MIAA and second-team Daktronics all-region this postseason.

She totaled eight points (two goals, four assists) out of the midfield in 2012 en route to also earning Academic all-District honors for the second straight season.

Hayes was a first-team NSCAA all-region performer in 2009, a second-team selection in 2010 and a third-team pick as a junior before catapulting back to the first-team as a senior.

Ridgway  transformed her first-team all-MIAA pick as a defender into a second-team choice by the NSCAA for the all-region team.

She anchored a back line that allowed just 13 goals in 19 matches, while also scoring once and taking nine shots. The junior joined Hayes on the Daktronics all-region second-team.

Twellman  became a two-time NSCAA all-region performer with a repeat spot on the second-team after scoring five goals and adding four assists this season.

She is a four-time all-MIAA player and was a second-team all-conference pick in 2012.

Shoemaker rounds out the Bulldog trio on the second-team, having led the Bulldogs with nine goals in 13 games played this season.

She was named second-team all-MIAA for the second straight season and was one of the conference’s top offensive threats.

The four selections raise Truman’s all-time NSCAA all-region total to 80, including 27 first-team recipients.

The Bulldogs finished the 2012 season with a 12-6-1 record and third-place finish in the MIAA.
