OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Snow covered and slippery streets have proven dangerous for some drivers.

A two-vehicle car crash had traffic at a standstill at 4th and Marion in Ottumwa around noon.

A vehicle’s back windshield was completely shattered.

Fire trucks, ambulances and police cars were on the scene for around an hour and blocked through traffic at the intersection.

Our reporter on the scene noted a stretcher carrying someone was being put into an ambulance.

According to the Ottumwa Police Department, one vehicle was starting to turn left and a second vehicle ran into its rear. The driver of the second vehicle was sighted for driving too close.

At this time we do not know if there were any major injuries.

Because of the weather, it is more important than ever to slow down and leave enough room between you and the car in front.
