The Truman men’s basketball team got 18 points and 10 rebounds from Mike Carlson and a 7-of-10 shooting night from Seth Jackson, but couldn’t overcome Lindenwood in the final minutes as the visiting Lions earned an 81-71 win on Thursday night in Pershing Arena.

The Bulldogs (8-15, 5-10 MIAA) and Lions (17-7, 10-6 MIAA) played to nine lead changes and eight ties on a back-and-forth night in Pershing, but a pair of mid-half runs propelled LWU to its 10th league victory .

The Bulldogs shot 46% for the game and went 9-of-25 (36%) from distance to keep within an arm’s reach for much of the night. In addition, the squads played nearly evenly across the board, with Truman turning the ball over just seven times and getting 27 points off its bench.

Carlson’s 18 and 10 paced the Bulldogs in both categories, while Jackson added 16 points in 30 minutes of work. Isaac Gardner drained four three-pointers off the bench, while Tom Norton dished out a game-high six assists.

LWU, meanwhile, put five players in double figures, headlined by 19 points from Cody Sorenson and an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double by Brett Thompson.

The Bulldogs will face a quick turnaround, traveling to Lincoln (Mo.) on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm.

Truman will look for a season sweep of the Blue Tigers after an 84-64 win in Pershing Arena on Jan. 3.
