KTVO spoke with a few business owners in the industry, and they told us that the styles are changing this season.

“Camo is huge this year, and western is huge. We are seeing short bride’s maid dresses with cowboy boots. We are seeing lots of camo in the weddings and tuxes and everything that is going on; even the bride now,” said Kristie Durflinger, owner of the Bridal Cottage in downtown Ottumwa.

Durflinger added that camo is a new design in the wedding industry.

“It is kind of new, but more brides are doing it on them now. Camo tuxes have been out a couple of years, but now the whole wedding is came. Also, we are seeing a lot of western wear, which is really new,” Durflinger said.

Diane Boyd, owner of Di’s in West Burlington, she told KTVO that weddings are starting to grow in size.

“Weddings are getting a little bigger again. They had started to get smaller for a while, and now they are getting a little bigger again. We have a lot of weddings with 7, 8, 9 bridesmaids in it and groomsmen,” said Boyd.

Boyd added that she is seeing many interesting designs this year as well.

“They are doing a lot of chic country designs. They are doing burlap and barn board and lace, and cowboy boots and a lot of lace. There is lace on everything this year,” Boyd said.

Both ladies added that this time of year, wedding planning goes into high gear, being that so many couples want to get married during the spring and summer seasons.
