HURDLAND, MO. -- A one-vehicle rollover crash occurred at 12:45 Tuesday on Hwy 6 one mile west of Hurdland.

The highway patrol says a tanker truck carrying anhydrous ammonia lost a wheel bearing, causing the driver to lose control of the big rig.

The driver was Larry Mershon, 69, of Macomb, Ill.

The patrol says the loss of the wheel bearing caused the tanker to travel off the right side and overturn.

Mershon was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical center for treatment of minor injuries.

The wreckage, which came to rest in a field, was not hauled away for hours until all the anhydrous could be pumped onto another truck.
