SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - - The Truman swim teams competed in a dual at Division I Missouri State University on Saturday afternoon, and the host Bears picked up a 155-78 win on the women’s side and a 160-72 win in the men’s competition.

Senior Jerod Simek captured the Bulldogs’ lone first place finish on the day, touching the wall in a time of 9:54.04 for nine team points.

Another top finish for the Bulldogs came in the women’s 400 yard medley relay, with the team of Ashley Shanel, Abby Hempen, Beth Eyanson and Casey Jepsen posting a season-best time of 3:47.36.

The time smashed the team’s previous-best this year by more than six seconds.

MSU also benefited from a 16 point advantage on both the men’s and women’s sides in the 3-meter diving competition, an event the Bulldogs don’t sponsor.

The Bulldogs return to Pershing Natatorium next Saturday (Jan. 26) afternoon to face in-state Division II rival Drury.

The men’s and women’s duals are both set to start at 1:00 pm.
