CLARENCE, MO. -- Police in Shelby County, Mo. are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Thursday afternoon in the city of Clarence, Mo.

Cody Barber, 26, of Moulton, Iowa was arrested for first degree robbery. Police are still investigating the possibilty of an accomplice.

According to a news release, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Shelby County Sheriff's Department responded to the report of a bank robbery at Community State Bank in Clarence, Mo.

The initial reports say the suspect, a white male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, had entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money. The man fled the area on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

A short time later, a witness saw a man matching the suspect's description get into a blue Pontiac parked in a nearby parking lot and drive away. This witness then followed the vehicle out of Clarence and onto Shelby County roads all while advising the police.

Officers located the Pontiac abandoned on a county road about 1.5 miles northeast of Clarence. Law enforcement set up a search perimeter and uitlized a patrol aircraft according to the news release.

At about 2:50 p.m. patrol canine unit found Barber and he was taken into custody. Barber is being held in the Shelby County Jail awaiting the issuance of a warrant.

It was released Friday morning that a second arrest has been made for the involvement in the robbery. 

Savanna J. Barger, 26, of Atlanta, Missouri, was arrested Thursday afternoon for her involvement in the robbery.  Barger was arrested for felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery and a Macon County warrant for failing to appear on traffic charges. 

The investigation is continuing by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
