Teen charged with murder learns court date

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- An Ottumwa man now knows when he will stand trial on murder charges.
  
Brandon Seim, 18, is charged with first degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of another Ottumwa man, 34-year-old Andy Madren. The incident occurred in November of last year. Seim is scheduled to stand trial beginning May 21 of next year.
    
Police were called to the residence on East Division Street in connection with a report of a stabbing. When police arrived, they found Madren suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center where he died about two hours later.
    
Seim is currently being held in the Wapello County jail under $500,000 cash only bond.
