LANCASTER, MO -- The Archer Family of Lancaster is left with nothing, after their home caught fire. Fire crews battled the flames for three hours.

At exactly 3:51 early Thanksgiving morning the Lancaster Fire Department responded to a house fire. Initial reports stated smoke showing through the roof, but once fire crews arrived on the scene, flames were shooting out. Lisa Lene of the American Red cross tells KTVO the family woke up early Thursday morning with their electricity off.

"The family was investigating and noticed the attic on fire," Lene tells us. "The home was eventually destroyed."

The flames were so huge and intense, a neighbor, Wynona Burnett said it lit up her bedroom. Burnett said, she got out of bed and walked to the back door.

"I went out the back door and stood on the sidewalk," Burnett said. "It was real warm and hot there, half of the home was totally inflamed."

KTVO has learned that a mother and father, along with their three children did escape the home, without injury.

Neighbors tell KTVO the family had just moved in the home within the last week or two. We spoke with one of the sons, and he tells us it's a tragedy for his family.

The American Red Cross is helping the Archer Family with their immediate needs like food, clothing, and shelter.
