OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwa High School has three more reasons to be proud this year. Three softball seniors signed their letter of intent to play at the next level. Sammy Garrett, and Katie Sammons both signed a letter of intent with Division II team Upper Iowa University, and teammate Olivia Roark signed her letter of intent with Division I team Missouri State University. The three are members of a nine senior roster this year at Ottumwa, and are coached by Frank Huston. The girls have the credentials to prove their individual success. Sammy Garrett was twice named first team all state (outfield) and three times named first team all conference in the CIML Metro (outfield), has a batting average .510 going into her senior year. Katie Sammons was named to the second team all state (outfield) her junior year, and two times first team all conference in the CIML Metro (outfield), she hit eight homeruns in 2012. Olivia Roark is a three time all state, and three time first team all conference in CIML Metro (infield), and only had two errors in 136 chances as a second baseman her junior year. The girls are excited to move on to the next level, but have high hopes of a state championship for their senior year at Ottumwa.
