Truman State places four on the Capital One Academic all-District first-teams

Truman soccer student-athletes Andy Chapman, Drew Garrone, Jacob Schrier and Olivia Hayes were named to their respective Capital One Academic all-District first-teams, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
On the women’s side, Hayes was picked first-team Academic all-District for the second straight season, amassing a 3.88 GPA in Business Administration entering this academic year. In 19 matches this season,

Hayes scored two goals and added four assists while taking 64 total shots. She has 24 career goals, good for eighth all-time at Truman, and her 242 career shots ranks third in program history.
 
A trio of first-time CoSIDA Academic all-District award recipients were recognized on the men’s side, as Chapman  , Schrier ( and Garrone all earned first-team distinction.

Chapman, a senior Mathematics major with a 3.32 GPA, led the MIAA with 13 goals and 31 points this season in also earning first-team all-MIAA accolades.

Schrier, a 3.45 GPA junior Biology major, made 11 starts and played in all 16 matches during the regular season, recording one assist. Garrone picked up honors in his first eligible season, posting a 4.00 GPA as a sophomore Biology major, and leading the Bulldog keepers with 922 minutes played and 50 saves through the regular season.
 
All four players will advance to the Academic all-America ballots, where first-, second- and third-team all-America honorees will be selected later this month.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information office.

The terms “Academic all-District” “Academic all-American” are trademarked by CoSIDA and are the officially tracked academic awards by NCAA institutions.
